Guidance for making NDF for trees available in four languages now

The nine-steps NDF-Guidance for trees covers the aspects relevant for making an NDF for CITES-listed trees and offers a structure for the process. It also contains parameters and example indicators to facilitate the work of Scientific Authorities and to enable them to assess the information available on a scientific basis. Final decisions are of course not a matter of an automatism but up to each individual user. Worksheets are provided documenting the NDF and allowing for any future re-assessment.

The guidance has been developed by the German Scientific Authority and Traffic with the experience and expertise of many international experts and presented at various CITES events. It is currently available in four languages: Dutch (.XLSX and .PDF), English (.XLSX and .PDF), Portuguese (.XLSX and .PDF) and Spanish (.XLSX and .PDF). A French version is currently under revision. Together with Traffic the guidance and worksheets have been converted into an electronical learning module and an online-recourse for making NDF, which will be launched in March.

The Spanish translation of the NDF-Guidance has been made available with the generous funding of the CITES Program on Tree Species.

Users are encouraged to feedback experiences and suggestions for improvements to the contact given.
