The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the Central African countries, which are full of important tree species including Pericopsis elata (Afromosia), Guibourtia demeusei (Babinga) and Prunus africana (Pygeum).
The NDF is already available for Pericopsis elata, its revision is very useful in view of the constantly changing context. In addition, as it is still Pericopsis elata, an in-depth study on the systematic conversion of volumes of processed products to equivalent volumes of roundwood using an appropriate conversion rate is necessary. Finalization, development and use of a database to monitor the volumes of Pericopsis elata harvested and exported by the DRC are priority actions identified by the DRC and its trading partners, including the European Commission.
